Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals (Level 2 Apprenticeship)
A Beauty Therapist works independently or as part of a team supported by a manager when completing treatments as a key part of a beauty business.


What will the course involve?
Off the job training to develop skills and knowledge in the following:
- Anatomy and physiology – the skin, structure of the skin and nails, bones of face
- Hair removal – warm and hot wax
- Facials including male skincare cleansing, facial massage, mask application etc.
- Manicure and pedicure cuticle work, masks, massage, varnishing including French
- Gel varnish – preparing the nails, applying light cured gel and removing gel polish
- Lash and brows – Brow shape, brow and lash tint, lashes
- Applying make-up – face shapes, applying and choosing make up products
- Basic Massage – for EPA basic back massage
- Professional behaviours and values - Safe working practices and communication with clients Beauty Therapy duties, standards of appearance, personal hygiene, etiquette, housekeeping; commercially viable times for the completion of treatments and continuing professional development
Entry requirements
- You must be employed as an apprentice and have a passion for beauty therapy, want to work with people and have a positive attitude to learning.
- GCSE maths and English grade 4/C+ grade is preferred. If you do not hold a 4/C+ in English and/or maths you will be enrolled onto a Functional Skills course at The Academy.
- You must complete off the job training working closely with your tutors and employer.
General comments
You will wear a professional uniform. We will discuss with you and your employer what equipment might be required. You will need to have excellent attendance. This qualification includes an end point assessment (EPA) in practical skills. EPA is set at a very high standard and graded Pass or Distinction, good preparation for EPA is vital.
What will the course lead to?
Continue your studies to Level 3, upskill in specialist services or develop skills in hairdressing. Once you have sufficient experience you may want to work towards being an Assessor, be self-employed, apply for a manager role or progress onto a degree course.
