Level 2 Beauty Therapy VRQ

Work in the industry

  • Following Health & Safety in the salon
  • Facials including skincare cleansing, facial massage, mask application etc.
  • Manicure and pedicure cuticle work, masks, massage, varnishing including French
  • A keen interest in beauty therapy and want to work with people.
  • You must meet deadlines and be committed to your course.
  • GCSE maths and English grade 4+/C grade is preferred. If you do not hold a grade 4 or C in English and/or maths you will be required to study Functional Skills as part of the course.
  • You will attend a work experience placement; you will take part in enrichment activities including competitions and additional courses.

You will need a kit and uniform which we will explain at interview.

  • Practical assessment on clients and online tests
  • You will complete some assignments and may need to sit online exams for Functional Skills.

You must have professional values and behaviours and have excellent attendance.

You may progress to a Level 2 Beauty Therapy VRQ Diploma.

Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals (Level 2 Apprenticeship)

  • Anatomy and physiology – the skin, structure of the skin and nails, bones of face
  • Hair removal – warm and hot wax
  • Facials including male skincare cleansing, facial massage, mask application etc.
  • Manicure and pedicure cuticle work, masks, massage, varnishing including French
  • Lash and brows – Brow shape, brow and lash tint, lash perm and flare lashes
  • Health and safety and communication with clients
  • Promote products and services to clients
  • A keen interest in beauty therapy and want to work with people.
  • You must meet deadlines and be committed to your course.
  • GCSE maths and English grade 4+/C grade is preferred. If you do not hold a grade 4 or C in English and/or maths you will be required to study Functional Skills as part of the course.

Another option is to work on cruise liners or further qualifications could lead to teaching/assessing and onto a degree or self employment.

Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals (Level 2 Apprenticeship)
A Beauty Therapist works independently or as part of a team supported by a manager when completing treatments as a key part of a beauty business.

Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist Level 3 Professional Standard (Apprenticeship)

  • Client consultation and care

  • Provide body massage
  • Massage using aromatherapy oils
  • Stone therapy massage
  • Indian Head massage
  • False tanning services

Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist Level 3 Professional Standard (Apprenticeship)

Training to professional standard in:

  • Aromatherapy using essential oils
  • Acupressure
  • Holistic massage
  • Indian Head Massage
  • Lymphatic drainage and wellness experiences
  • Making recommendations to clients
  • Business effectiveness
  • Providing safe working environments
  • Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification
  • A keen interest in beauty and want to work with people
  • You must meet deadlines and be committed to your work and study
  • Preferred GCSE maths and English grade 4+/C grade. If you do not hold a grade 4 or C in English and/or maths you will be required to study Functional Skills as part of the course.
  • You must have an apprenticeship or wish to secure one

You will need a kit and must wear a smart uniform which we will explain at interview.

  • End Point Exam and Assessment Day which is graded pass or distinction
  • You will complete some assignments and may need to sit online exams for Functional Skills

As a Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist you might work in a Spa, Leisure, Holistic or Wellness Therapy centre, Medi-spa and Beauty salon. Another option is to work on cruise liners or further qualifications could lead to teaching/assessing and onto a degree or self-employment.
